One of the Sporcles I've always had in the back of my mind, but have --for a variety of reasons-- never gotten around to, centers around walk-offs. Today's Sporcle will rectify that. Running the query in the Play Index, I really like the names that have popped up over the years: there's quite the variety. It won't come as a surprise to anybody that many beloved names make the cut, but there are also ones that most of us have memory-holed. And, of course, there are the players that fit into the category of "Let's remember a guy". Those might be the most fun.
At any rate, today's Sporcle is on the rather large side: 209 entries. How many can you get? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- I've allotted the full 20 minutes for completion attempts.
- For hints, I've provided the date, opponent, and position of the player in question for that game. I've notated where necessary when a player came off the bench.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- 61 of these walk-offs are of the home run variety.
- The most common type of walk-off, unsurprisingly, is a single (104).
- There have only been 3 walk-off triples.
- And now, for a few weird walk-offs: 3 wild pitches, 5 walks, 2 HBPs, and 1 balk.
