William Bergolla Jr.'s season is over, practically before it restarted.
The White Sox announced that Bergolla suffered a right fibular stress fracture during his first rehab game with the ACL White Sox, which cut it short after two plate appearances. He was plunked in one of those PAs, but it turns out the injury stemmed from jumping in the field. He converted a grounder into the final out of the third inning, but didn't come back for the fourth.
Bergolla is expected to miss the rest of the season, and isn't expected to be an option for the Arizona Fall League. The hope is that this isn't a repeat of Alexander Albertus' situation, where the White Sox acquired him at the 2024 deadline knowing he had a stress fracture in his tibia, but couldn't get him on the field for consecutive games in 2025. Albertus' situation required surgery after the 2024 season, so we'll see if Bergolla's gets to that point before comparing further.
