Good morning!
For the first time in five years, this annual Sporcle Saturday arrives in mid-October rather than the first weekend after the regular season. While it was looking like this post might have been delayed another week, alas, all good things must come to an end. While it's a misattribution to Dr. Seuss, the sentiment still applies: "Don't cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”.
This season provided the most quiz fodder of any season since I began posting a weekly Sporcle Saturday back in 2017, and was also the most fun I've had watching a team since, what, 2005? My thanks to all of you who take the time to play this silly diversion: it's always interesting to see what themes folks enjoy, and how you all do on each week's quiz. Of course, Sporcle Saturday won't be going anywhere during the offseason: the themes will just be a bit more random in nature.
In the case this is your first end-of-season Saturday Sporcle, your task is this: attempt to name every single player to have made at least one appearance with the White Sox in 2026. That was 59 players this season. If you're curious, here are some of the previous totals from past seasons:
- 2025: 62
- 2024: 63
- 2023: 56
- 2022: 44
- 2021: 47
- 2020: 48
- 2019: 47
- 2018: 51
- 2017: 51
- 2016: 50
- 2015: 40
How many can you name? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- I’ve allotted the full 25 minutes for completion attempts.
- For hints, I’ve provided the number of games each player appeared in, and their primary position(s). As everybody is aware, pitcher usage was a bit mixed this year, so I tried the best I could to denote starting pitchers versus relievers. There's always a chance opener usage muddled things slightly.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- Last year, the Braves set a new record with 71 different players making an appearance!
- This year, the Giants tied that mark with an opportunity during the last weekend of the season to break it. Assuming I counted correctly, they did not.
