White Sox prospect Caleb Bonemer

Baseball America's latest revision to its top 100 prospects list for June wasn't a kind one to the White Sox.

Sam Antonacci fell off the list for the best of reasons -- graduation, and succeeding in the majors -- but Hagen Smith fell out of the top 100 from No. 75 for the reasons you'd suspect ...

Charlotte is one of the most hitter-friendly parks in the sport, so it is understandable when even the most talented arms face resistance in the Queen City. Even so, Smith’s outings have not been long, and they haven’t featured much in the way of control or command, either.

... while Caleb Bonemer's strikeout rate has caused some concern toward the top.

Bonemer’s power will play in any park in the country. The rest of his tool set, however, needs some refinement. He punishes fastballs but struggles against secondaries, and his in-zone miss rate is higher than ideal. Add those factors to a defensive skill set that will likely require him to play a corner—thus putting more pressure on his bat—and you get a bit of a drop.

It'd probably help if Bonemer stopped getting drilled. He wore two more HBPs on Friday, giving him 15 over 235 plate appearances this season after getting plunked just eight times over 476 PAs in 2025. Another way to put it:

  • 2025: One HBP every 59.5 PA
  • 2026: One HBP every 15.7 PA

If that sounds severe, it is, because Sam Antonacci's minor-league HBP rate was one every 16.4 PA.
