Truist Field

Truist Field

|Laura Wolff / Charlotte Knights

On Friday, Mason Adams made his first start at Triple-A Charlotte since September 2024, when he was limited to shorter outings due to a back injury.

He's still maxing out at four innings as he ramps all the way up from Tommy John surgery, put pitching at Truist Field provided his first batch of 2026 Statcast data, and when compared to how he ended 2024, he's regained some zip.

Adams averaged 93.6 mph on his four-seamer, which was nearly a full tick higher than his max velocity from two Septembers ago (92.7 mph), and the rest of his arsenal also gained power. That's a positive sign for somebody who couldn't really afford to lose any of the velocity he had, and now the hope is that command eventually follows.
