The last two years, the White Sox have swung a trade for a left-handed reliever on the fringes of the Red Sox's big league bullpen plans, sending an unheralded low-level international prospect Boston's way.

In 2025, it was Cam Booser for Yhoiker Fajardo. Booser went from their first high-leverage lefty to unceremoniously released in less than a calendar year, while Fajardo posted a 2.25 ERA while striking out 83 hitters over 72 innings, most them coming as an 18-year-old in Low-A.

Now in St. Louis' High-A affiliate after the Red Sox included Fajardo in a trade for Willson Contreras, he's posting similarly impressive numbers over five games in High-A: 19.2 IP, 22 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 27 K.

I only mention this because Ronny Hernandez, whom the White Sox traded to Boston for Chris Murphy last November, made his Red Sox organizational debut with High-A Greenville on Wednesday, and he homered twice.

Charlotte 16, Jacksonville 1

  • Rikuu Nishida was 2-for-5 with an HBP and a strikeout.
  • Braden Montgomery, 3-for-5 with two doubles, a walk and a strikeout.
  • Jacob Gonzalez hit his 10th homer, doubled, walked and struck out thrice.
  • Ryan Galanie went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and a strikeout.
  • Duncan Davitt 's return to starting: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HBP, 35 of 54 pitches for strikes.

Highlights:

*Jacksonville seems to have reliability issues with Statcast, so you'll just have to enjoy the visuals of Montgomery's bases-loaded double:

Birmingham 4, Tennessee 1

  • Samuel Zavala singled, got plunked and struck out thrice.
  • Jeral Perez went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Winston-Salem 7, Hudson Valley 3

  • Caleb Bonemer went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.
  • Colby Shelton was 0-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base.
  • Anthony DePino, 0-for-4 with an HBP, two strikeouts and a stolen base.
  • George Wolkow wore the golden sombrero, but did reach base via plunking.
  • Kyle Lodise went 1-for-4 with a K.
  • Gabe Davis: 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 HBP, 37 of 50 pitches for strikes.

Kannapolis 3, Columbia 2 (10 innings)

  • Jaden Fauske went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
  • Billy Carlson was 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.
