Miguel Vargas only has one extra-base hit over his last 16 games. Granted, it was a home run, and he's hitting .310 with a .444 OBP over this stretch despite the lack of pop, but Will Venable still wants to give him one more rest before the season's finishing kick.
"I think this is 13 or 14 in a row that we’re getting going, so you’re just trying to get through here and put everyone in the best spot, which includes recovery for Miguel, but also exposure to some at-bats for Grich and some other guys, it makes a lot of sense to do today," Venable told reporters this afternoon.
It sounds like off days for the other regulars will be coming in short order.

The bullpen will have a fresh arm, as the White Sox recalled Chris Murphy from Triple-A Charlotte to take the roster spot of Tyler Davis, who went on the bereavement/family medical emergency list.
Venable said this doesn't necessarily inform plans for who will be starting for the White Sox on Thursday.
"We’ll see where we’re at at the end of today," Venable said.
