Postgame activities didn't really wrap up until around 1am Tuesday morning, and the White Sox had a late arrival to the park in the afternoon.
"Last night? Yeah, it’s gone," said Chase Meidroth. "We are here today, we are trying to get a win today."
Hmm, maybe someone less perpetually aggro would offer a more relatable perspective on this. If Meidroth allowed himself to acknowledge human failings like fatigue, maybe he doesn't make it this far.
"Our group does a good job of really dissociating with yesterday and being ready to play and prepare and have good energy today," Will Venable said, "I anticipate it being the same. I know everyone's probably a little sluggish and tired, and gave 'em a break from BP today, and hopefully they can use that time to recover and be prepared to go."
White Sox hitters will need to be rested, because while Davis Martin is off to a great start and has the sixth-lowest ERA in the majors, Angels starter José Soriano has the best. For a team that still has the most home run-dependent offense in the game at the moment, a barrage of 98 mph turbo sinkers might be a poor matchup, especially after they couldn't do anything with Jack Kochanowicz for six innings Monday (it was still Monday when he was pulled, at least).
"Really, on the heels of the guy we faced last night, who works at the bottom of the zone, stuff sinking and moving downward, if there was ever a good guy to face before Soriano, hopefully that gave us a little head start on how to go about approaching tonight," Venable said.

It didn't seem super likely that Venable was say something especially spicy about Alex Cora and Rob Thomson getting fired by their respective teams in the past week. And he didn't!
"It's surprising," Venable said. "Those guys are two really good guys. I know Cora really well, having worked for him, and he's just as good a manager as I've been around and a special guy and it just kind of speaks to how sensitive these jobs are and these opportunities. It's tough to see because you care about those guys and you know they're good guys, but you understand that's part of baseball.
They felt they were in spots where they needed to make changes. And they won a lot of games for those organizations, and you know, you got to continue to produce and play well. And yeah, it's just one of the situations where I guess they thought they weren't the guys to lead that charge anymore."

It's always nice to see an old friend back at the ballpark. That's right, former White Sox farmhand (and temporary bullpen catcher for one weird stretch) Sebastian Rivero is in the lineup for the Angels!
Also Yoán Moncada is playing.
