Caleb Bonemer once again homered for Birmingham on Friday, giving him 32 for the season, but don't let that distract you from Colby Shelton hitting a pair, including one that might not have actually come down.
Shelton hit his 20th and 21st homers of the season against Chattanooga, and the second blast demonstrates the raw power at play.
There's no easy access to the tape measure for Birmingham, especially when the Barons are on the road and playing in front of Chattanooga's famously unexcitable broadcaster, but I'm looking forward to when he reaches Charlotte, and we can quickly refer to his Statcast data to see if his raw power is as kinetic as it looks.
Baseball America puts his power at 55, while MLB Pipeline gives it a 50 grade. Both are a half-grade below Bonemer's, which feels right on a relative basis, because it seems like Shelton has to work harder for his to play in games.
