After their last two postseason pushes came down to the final day of the half -- success in the first half of 2024, and coming up short in the first half of this season -- the Birmingham Barons finally coasted to the securing of a spot in the Southern League postseason.

Their 6-2 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts locked down the second half title in the Southern League North with seven games left on the schedule. It wasn't a zero-sum game, because the Lookouts won the first half title, and the two teams will meet for Game 1 of the best-of-3 North Division Series at Regions Field on Sept. 16.
