White Sox Minor Keys: June 21, 2024

Duke Ellis (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

The White Sox weren't and aren't in any sort of shape to take advantage of Duke Ellis' limited skill set on a major-league bench, and the New York Mets will try to make those 57 losses and counting their gain.

The Mets claimed Ellis off waivers and optioned him to Double-A Binghamton on Friday. The White Sox had designated Ellis for assignment after adding Chuckie Robinson to the 40-man roster.

Thus concludes the White Sox chapter of Ellis' career, and it was an action-packed one. While his effectiveness was always dependent on his ability to scrape up singles, he stole 117 bases while being caught just 16 times over 239 minor-league games as a member of the White Sox organization, including a 34-for-36 performance in 41 games this year.
