As we approach the midway point of the month, we also approach what would have been the 2020 All-Star game, originally scheduled for this coming Tuesday in Los Angeles. Because nobody can prove me wrong on this, I can say with 100% certainty that the White Sox would have contributed a franchise-record 10(!) players to the All-Star game this season, breaking their 1954 total of 9.
Alas, this year’s All-Star game has been cancelled, so we won’t get to see --to name just a few of the many White Sox-centric accomplishments which were to no doubt take place at the 2020 ASG-- Luis Robert’s 2 grand slams in the first inning (one off starter Walker Buehler, the other off Jacob deGrom), Lucas Giolito’s perfect 3 IP, 9 Ks to start things off, or Eloy Jimenez’s home run that flew so far they temporarily halted the game to dedicate a plaque to its landing spot.
No, my friends, we must wait another year to instead view these events at the 2021 All-Star game. For today, all you have as your task is to recite the litany of past White Sox All-Stars, going back to 1970. There’s a total of 96 entries in there: how many can you get? Good luck!

- I’ve allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
- For hints, I’ve provided the primary position of the player in question, and all players are grouped by year.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- The All-Star game has fallen on July 11 on twelve occasions, the last of which was in Miami in 2017. (And once at Comiskey in 1950)
- Coincidentally, the Dodgers are the team with the longest time between hosting events: the last year they hosted an All-Star game was 1980.
- Tampa Bay is the only team to have never hosted the All-Star game.
