It was on this day in 2002 that former White Sox outfielder Mike Cameron tied a major league record, hitting 4 home runs in a single game. He actually had a shot at five, as he hit all four in his first four at-bats; an HBP in his fifth plate appearance denied him the first chance, but he nearly made good in his final at-bat, driving one to the warning track in right.

At the time, Cameron was the 11th player in MLB history to accomplish the feat, and there have still been just 16 players total to do so. (Strangely enough, Shawn Green of the Dodgers would also hit 4 in a game exactly three weeks later, on May 23) As you might assume, the game itself was a blowout--the Sox were down 10-0 before they had a chance to come to the plate in the first--but I'd imagine for the fans in attendance, the game was quite memorable. So, for today's Sporcle: how many of the players involved can you name? There are 29. Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

    • I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
    • I've grouped players by team, and listed their position.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

    • Despite the lopsided 15-4 loss (and a much better Mariners squad; tough luck to win 93 and miss the playoffs...but they finished behind the 103-win A's and 99-win Angels), the White Sox actually took the season series from the Mariners that year, 5-4.
    • All told, Cameron hit 10 home runs in his career against the White Sox. (The Rangers take the cake as the opponent who gave up the most, at 16)
    • The only White Sox player to do it? Pat Seerey in 1948, against the Philadelphia Athletics.
