Hey, did you hear? The White Sox signed Yasmani Grandal the other day! It's a bit of a big deal, because he addresses a few holes in the form of just one guy.

He also (at least, for now) marks the richest free agent signing the Sox have ever made. Initially, I was going to break out the "biggest free agent signings" Sporcle, but decided against that since it's possible the front office hands out a larger deal later on this winter. It's a bit of a surprise for me to type those words, but I'll take the optimism where I can find it.

So, instead, today will be all about the catcher position: specifically, who in franchise history has played the most games there. Taking just Grandal's Dodger career (4 years, same length as this contract), he played in 510 games. Should the Sox be so lucky to get a similar number of games from Mr. Grandal, that would rank as 10th-most in franchise history. For today, though, you have 25 other names to remember: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

    • To qualify, the player must have started at least 60% of his games at catcher.
    • For hints, I've provided the number of games started and the tenure of the player in question.
    • I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

    • The most home runs from the players on this list? 214. Again, taking just Grandal's Dodger career as the 4-year benchmark, his 89 would be fifth-most. Here's hoping it's even more than that.
    • The most hits on the list is 1345: Grandal's 386 with the Dodgers would come in at 10th-most.
    • The most walks on this list is 638 (over 17 seasons): Grandal's 241 would slot him into the fifth position on this list.
