The White Sox set out to take the rubber match against the Mets this afternoon, with Sean Newcomb opening and Erick Fedde in line to take the bulk of the innings afterward.
The White Sox are 2-1 when Newcomb opens, including the 3-0 victory against the Cubs on Wednesday with José Urquidy following him up. The loss wasn't Newcomb's fault, as he hasn't allowed a run, or even a hit, over 6⅓ innings when starting a game. There's a chance he could go longer than Luis Castillo did, which makes you question the point of roles to begin with.

Kyle Teel will be starting a rehab assignment with Charlotte on Tuesday. Walker McKinven sat in for Will Venable with reporters before today's game, and said the team is going to ease him back through his rehab stint. There's no rush, whether it's because the team is happy enough with the tandem of Drew Romo and Jake Rogers, or because Teel didn't contribute meaningfully more than either during the 19 games he was healthy, so they can't rely on him being an instant fix.
