PREAMBLE

With all this young talent at the White Sox disposable for the foreseeable future, the core will remain the same. Reinsdorf is obviously a cheap owner, but has been known to increase payroll when presented with a competitive team. (2020-22) This off-season the main targets will be a bolstered rotation, right handed power, dumping bad contracts, increasing stolen base threats, and decreasing strikeout percentage.

ARBITRATION-ELIGIBLE PLAYERS

  • Miguel Vargas: Tender
  • Brenton Doyle: Tender
  • Joey Bart: Non-tender
  • Huascar Brazobán: Non-tender
  • Jordan Leasure: Non-tender
  • Chris Murphy: Non-tender

Miguel is an obvious choice with a contract extension in the near future. Doyle's plus speed and defense are perfect for a fourth or fifth outfielder and his right-handed bat has been much better than I initially expected. Good contract for an underrated player. Bart didn't show much to me as he was injured the majority of the season. I believe for his contract you can replace his defense and offense for cheaper. Leasure and Murphy were terrible this season. Easy decision.

OTHER IMPENDING FREE AGENTS

  • Sean Newcomb

With him being 33 years old I would offer 2 years for 20m guaranteed. I would structure the contract so that 7 million is given this year, and 13m the next.

FREE AGENTS

Randy Arozarena: 6 years 180 million
Tyrone Taylor: 2 years 18 million-DH/fifth outfeilder
Adrian Morejon-5 years 75 million fight for starting role- if not can be a high leverage reliever

TRADES

$15 million cash, Joey Volchko Colson Castillo and Benni for Ryan Weathers Dump the terrible Castillo money and give the Yankees some left-handed bats to take advantage of their short porch. Weathers can slot in the rotation anywhere from the 2-4

Anthony Kay $2 million cash and PTBNL for Herrick Herandez-Give the Braves needed innings and shore up left handed pitching depth.

SUMMARY

Catchers-Teel and either Lee or Quero (battle for the spot in the spring) $800k a piece

Teel is the catcher of the future, and it is not worth paying any more money than we have to, to a backup catcher

First Base- Munetake Murakami: He slots in here for the remainder the year, with an extension always in talks, or even a trade at the 2027 trade deadline. $17 million

Second Base- Chase Meidroth: Best Second baseman in the AL, possibly the MLB no notes
$800k

Third Base-Miguel Vargas: second only to Caminero and Postseason J-Ram easy decision for the upcoming years. (1B versatility could come in handy depending on the Mune situation in the future)-$5.4 million

SS-Sam Antoncci: He had a significantly better stat line at the plate while playing the infield, and we saw him play a good SS in the WBC. Should be an easy plug and play for 162 $800k

LF-Randy Arozarena: Big free agent signing. Should be here for the next five years. $30million (this year)

CF-Doyle/Peters: This will be a strict platoon depending on who ever is pitching. Tristan flourished when put in a place to do so. Doyle was sneaky good, while the pair have elite speed and defense $3.6 Million and $800k

RF-Braedon Montgomery: Has all the talent in the world with a great arm. Give him time to figure it out. If he falls flat on his face see next line. $800k

DH-Tyrone Taylor- Good bat. Elite vs lefties and average against rights. Better than Benintendi in all categories. Plays every outfield position. $9 million.

Util- Brooks Baldwin and Acuna plays everywhere well enough provides speed for late in games. $800k each

Rotation

Burke-best pitcher for us all year no notes $800k

Weathers-He could really go anywhere in the rotation same as the rest of the rotation. should be a good enough 2-5. $3.1 million

Adraian Morejon-Could really go anywhere in the rotation. Had elite numbers out of the bullpen and is expected to be a starter in 2027. If he can't go extended outings, he can easily be moved to a high leverage role in the bullpen and move any of the bulk arms in the rotation. $15 Million

Hagen Smith-Elite out of the pen in multiple innings this year. Easy next step in the rotation. $800k

Martin- Was elite in his first tenish starts, and then really stunk it up. He showed his stuff, and I believe his arm just fell off. This year he could be a true 1-2 starter like he showed early. $800k

Bullpen

Taylor-Elite in high leverage this past season-$800k

Sandlin, Thorpe, Schultz, Vasil, multi-inning guys with very high ceilings. Each of these guys has chance to move into the rotation $800k each

Hudson-Solid lefty-$800k

Hicks-Gives up hard contact, but the stuff is unhittable when he is on. $8 million
Newcomb-Can also go multi-innings, solid lefty. $7 million

Deferred-$1.5m
trades: $17 m

Total:130.2 million

Any critiques are welcome
