Today marks the final day of 16 straight with a game, and Will Venable is celebrating with a crazy lineup that has Miguel Vargas leading off, Chase Meidroth batting cleanup, and Colson Montgomery sitting in favor of Luisangel Acuña with lefty Mackenzie Gore on the mound for Texas.
From how he described it, Montgomery would probably be playing if there wasn't another lefty bat who has homered in four consecutive games.
"You kind of choose between the lefties there and obviously Colson has done some damage versus the lefties," Venable explained to reporters before tonight's game. "But truthfully between Antonacci, Colson, Rikuu and Peters, kind of pick a guy and just went with Tristan, who obviously gives you the defense and is in a really good spot offensively."
Venable also said Davis Martin will make a rehab start on Thursday, for those who are looking for any semblance for stability in the rotation.
