White Sox prospect Anthony DePino

Anthony DePino has been on the Sox Machine radar for weeks now, but while he's still unranked on Baseball America's revised top 30, he's starting to gain some traction with the minors' most established outlet.

BA selected one "compelling" hitting prospect from outside every team's top 10, and DePino represented the White Sox system.

Though DePino doesn’t stand out in any specific data area, what makes him intriguing is how balanced he is across the board. In pretty much all metrics, he’s above average. He ranks among the top 10 of the White Sox system in 90th percentile exit velocity and the top third in chase and hard-hit rate. He also has solid batted-ball angles and distribution.

DePino’s overall and in-zone contact are his weakest areas, as he’s closer to fringy to average there. Because of his size and positional limitations, DePino is really going to have to hit. So far, he has, and at the least, the White Sox look like they’ve found a valuable minor league contributor.

DePino turned around 97 mph for his fifth homer with the Barons on Thursday, so now he's hitting .306/.402/.510 over his 117 Double-A plate appearances.
