Sporcle Saturday: Rookies with 2+ hits in a game

Braden Montgomery celebrates his walk-off homer with White Sox

Braden Montgomery can do it by himself.

Good morning!

Boy, did Braden Montgomery have himself a game the other night! Just the fifth player ever to hit a walk-off home run in his rookie debut, he also collected two hits overall, something which hasn't often been accomplished throughout franchise history.

As you'll soon see (should you choose to partake), the last Sox rookie to debut and record two or more hits in a game was 2023, and there have been just eleven overall since 2000. Today's Sporcle will test you, however, on all rookies throughout franchise history who debuted and recorded two or more hits in a game: there are 46 players, how many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I've allotted 15 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I've provided the date of the game and the position of the player.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • No White Sox rookie has recorded more than 4 hits in a game in their debut (8/20/1928).
  • 4 pitchers are included on this list.
  • Only four players (including Braden Montgomery) have included a homer among their two-plus hits. The most recent game occurred in 2018, a name that almost assuredly many folks forgot on that season's end-of-the-year Sporcle.
