First Pitch: White Sox at Padres

(By Mds08011 – Own work, CC BY 4.0. )

The White Sox are trying to match their longest winning streak of last season with six consecutive victories.

Anthony Kay needs to get his cutter more involved, which he and pitching coach Zach Bove discussed earlier this week.

Real pain for my Randomaniacs, as the Padres pushed Randy Vazquez back in the rotation so they could activate Griffin Canning for his season debut. Canning was recovering from an Achilles tear and looked like a potential White Sox addition for part of the offseason. Not to put words in Will Venable’s mouth, but it seems like the White Sox are skeptical that he can handle lefties.

Shane Smith’s return to the majors is getting farther away, rather than closer. His path to get back to his old delivery has been trying.
