When I saw a tweet about the New Hampshire Fisher Cats scoring 10 runs on one hit -- and eight runs before a hit -- against the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday, I thought we might have a challenger for the worst professional inning I've ever witnessed, which was the Birmingham Barons' infamous 13-walk inning back in 2021.
But nope. In terms of pure wildness, three Sea Dogs pitchers only combined for eight of them. The pitiful sequence is as follows:
- Walk
- Walk
- Strikeout
- Sac fly
- Walk
- Walk
- Walk
- HBP
- Walk
- HBP
- Walk
- Walk
- Single
- Strikeout
We're approaching the five-year anniversary of that game, and it may remain the damndest thing I've ever seen, in the literal sense of it being the most damnable.
