It only took Tyler Schweitzer two outings to put last year's Charlotte Knightmare behind him.
Schweitzer, who wore an 8.78 ERA over 10 starts at Triple-A and only had a marginally easier time in relief before he was demoted to Birmingham last year, returned to Charlotte for the start of 2026 and opened the year with five efficient innings of long relief. Now, Elijah Evans says he's earned the major league call-up that eluded him last season.
White Sox prospect LHP Tyler Schweitzer is being called up to make his MLB debut, sources tell @JustBB_Media and @FutureSox.

The 2022 5th round pick has thrown 5 innings of 1-run ball out of the bullpen in AAA this year.
Good thing I expanded my most essential White Sox list to 49.
The scale of Schweitzer's struggles surprised because he had the makings of a classic lefty depth arm with a low-to-mid-90s fastball and a spate of secondaries that he could throw for strikes, and occasionally whiffs. He's only thrown 51 pitches over his five walkless innings this year, but he's been sitting 93-94 mph with the slider as his primary breaking ball, as he hasn't yet thrown a curve to a righty.
Schweitzer is not yet on the 40-man roster, so a corresponding move will have to be made. It doesn't necessitate a cut if the White Sox don't feel like it, because they have a few 60-day IL candidates to choose from.
