The White Sox have already used 36 players this year, and if and when Doug Nikhazy makes his 2026 debut, the new No. 51 will be No. 37. In yet another swap of left-handed relievers, the White Sox recalled Nikhazy to take the place of Tyler Gilbert, who was previously recalled to replace Brandon Eisert, but sent back down after just one game.
The White Sox claimed the 26-year-old lefty from the Cleveland Guardians back on April 6. Nikhazy has since made two starts for Charlotte. Over 7⅔ innings, he's allowed three runs on eight hits, three walks and two hit batters while striking out 10. His next MLB appearance will be his third, as he made one unsuccessful spot start with Cleveland last April, and one perfect inning of relief on July 4.
