First Pitch

First pitch: White Sox vs. Cubs

James Fegan/Sox Machine

They haven't been on TV much recently, so you'd be forgiven for not realizing this is Everson Pereira's third Cactus League game since missing a few weeks with an oblique strain. The real outfield development for Friday is actually Jarred Kelenic getting his first start of the spring in center, which may need to be a viable alignment with Brooks Baldwin's status currently up in the air (he hasn't played since last Friday).

Curtis Mead is in the lineup for the first time since returning from playing for Team Australia in the World Baseball Classic.

Ben Cowles, who was designated for assignment by the Cubs last September, claimed off waivers by the White Sox and sent to play 15 underwhelming games at Triple-A Charlotte, DFA by the White Sox in January, claimed by the Cubs off waivers in response before they DFA’d him again in February, claimed by the Blue Jays only to be placed on waivers again and claimed by the Cubs in March, gets the start at short today for the North Side Nine.

Hey look it’s Kyle Teel back in White Sox gear. A copy of the today’s newspaper is sitting somewhere just out of frame.
