Good morning!

While we await the announcement of who won this year's Silver Slugger awards, and I try and develop a quiz related to that in the coming weeks, I thought it might be fun to revisit Munetaka Murakami's rookie campaign. Murakami mashed 35 home runs for the Sox (sorry for the spoilers) over the course of 127 games.

Murakami is the first White Sox left-handed first baseman to hit 30 or more home runs in a single season while playing at least half of his games at first base (minimum 100 games). You have to go back to 1951 to get that close (29 home runs). Today's quiz will ask you to name some more obscure names: left-handed first basemen who appeared at first base for the White Sox in a minimum of ten games. That gives us 152 entries: how many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I've allotted the full 25 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I've provided the number of games the player appeared in at first base (though not necessarily their full number of games appeared in a season!), and the season.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • Murakami's OPS+ of 130 is 7th-best all-time of the players on this list.
  • The highest OPS+ of the players on this list: 172, coming in the 1915 season.
  • The most stolen bases: 52, coming all the way back in 1901.
