First Pitch: White Sox vs. Diamondbacks

James Fegan/Sox Machine

PHOENIX -- There's a lot more going on Sunday afternoon at White Sox camp than we can entirely detail in this brief post, but here's some tidbits to chew on.

--This is a bullpen game while Jonathan Cannon pitches against Reds minor leaguers.

--This is Andrew Benintendi's first game in the outfield since his hand fracture. The 30-year-old said he has taken 17 at-bats over the last three days in backfield games and feels ready for opening day from an offensive timing perspective, but catching balls in his glove has been the most painful activity so far. But both he and Austin Slater (oblique) are at this point expected to be ready to go on opening day.

--Josh Rojas (right big toe hairline fracture) and Mike Tauchman (right hamstring strain) are likely to start the season on the injured list, per Chris Getz.

--Newly claimed right-handed pitcher Mike Vasil is traveling to Chicago to meet the team next week. He is expected to begin the year out of the bullpen but has been a starter throughout his career and was partially added to address the wave of injuries to the White Sox rotation depth.
