Good morning!
The White Sox announced their latest international class signees on Wednesday, and it was nice to see the Dominican Republic more strongly represented on the list than in past years. The hope would be for the Sox to continue to put more resources into that area, which James noted in the comments section David Keller wants to do just that.
The need for the White Sox to improve in the Dominican Republic is only underscored when you run a list of players from the DR who have actually suited up for the team. It's not that it's a short list really -- though I don't know how it would compare to the other 29 teams-- it's just that the names on the list tend to underwhelm.
It does make for a challenging, if somewhat depressing, Sporcle. Today’s quiz asks you to name any player to make at least one appearance for the franchise: position player, DH, or pitcher. In all, that’s 81 guys: how many can you get? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- You’ll have the full allotment for time: 25 minutes.
- I’ve grouped pitchers first, followed by position players. For hints, I’ve provided the tenure of the player in question, and their primary position.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- There are 14 batters on this list to appear in at least 100 games for the team. The most is 676 games played.
- On the pitching front the most games pitched is 279, and for starting pitching, 106 games started.
- The most home runs (hit for the White Sox) on this list is 94, though there are two batters on this list who are in the 500 homer club overall, just that nearly all of them came with other teams. (And one with over 400)
