White Sox Minor Keys: May 14, 2024

If you missed Farm Fortnight on Tuesday and are planning to get around to it today, items regarding four White Sox prospects will either look prescient or outdated.

* Grant Taylor was promoted to Kannapolis after just one start in Kannapolis, and Ryan Burrowes made the trip with him. Taylor will be starting Friday, and he described his pitch mix to Jeff Cohen:

* Eddie Park got the bump from Kannapolis to Winston-Salem, which his 17-to-4 walk-to-strikeout ratio suggested was necessary for him to take the next step in his development.

* Zach DeLoach finally hit his first homer with Charlotte on Tuesday night, and on his 139th plate appearance of the season. While he hit it at home in a classic Truist Field slobberknocker with Durham, it was by no means cheap, measuring 402 feet to right center.

Charlotte 12, Durham 11 (10 innings)

• Colson Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a walk, sac fly and strikeout.
• Danny Mendick was 0-for-5 with a walk and a K in his first rehab game.
• Oscar Colás went 2-for-4 with two walks and a strikeout.
• Zach DeLoach, 2-for-3 with two walks and his first homer.
• Dominic Fletcher went 2-for-5 with a double and a strikeout.

Highlights:

* Montgomery scored the game-winning run by beating out a long throw home from Durham's shortstop Yu Chang, whose double-play-depth positioning was foiled by the runner in motion.

Chattanooga 6, Birmingham 2

• Terrell Tatum went 1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts.
• Brooks Baldwin was 0-for-3 with a walk, strikeout and stolen base.
• Edgar Quero struck out thrice and was plunked once.
• Wilfred Veras went 0-for-3 with a walk.
• Tim Elko, 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
• Jacob Burke, 1-for-4 with a strikeout and a stolen base.
• Jairo Iriarte continued his pattern of good control every other outing: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 11 K, 1 HR, 63 of 93 pitches for strikes.

Winston-Salem 12, Greenville 5

• Eddie Park went 2-for-6 with a stolen base in his High-A debut.
• Jacob Gonzalez went 0-for-4 with a walk, sac fly and two strikeouts.
• Calvin Harris singled, walked twice, struck out once and hit a sac fly.
• Wes Kath homered, walked and struck out thrice.
• Samuel Zavala hit his third homer of the season during a 1-for-5 night, striking out once.
• Tanner McDougal: 4 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K, 49 of 84 pitches for strikes.

Kannapolis 3, Fayetteville 0

• Rikuu Nishida went 0-for-4 with a walk.
• Ryan Burrowes was 1-for-4 with a strikeout in his Kannapolis debut.
• Ronny Hernandez is perking up: 2-for-4 with a double.

ACL White Sox 13, ACL Brewers 6

• Javier Mogollon went 1-for-4 with two walks, a strikeout and two stolen bases.
• George Wolkow doubled, walked thrice, struck out once and stole two bases.
• Adrian Gil went 0-for-2 with an HBP, walk, strikeout and stolen base.
• Erick Hernandez replaced Gil after the HBP and tripled in his lone PA.
• Stiven Flores went 1-for-5 with a strikeout.
• Abraham Nunez, 1-for-3 with a triple, walk, strikeout and HBP.
• Edrick Felix, who struck out 24 times in 71 plate appearances with Kananpolis, immediately looks more at home in the ACL: 2-for-4 with a grand slam, sac fly and seven RBIs.
• Sean Burke in his first action of the season: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K
• Shane Drohan's second rehab appearance was rockier: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
• Maximo Martinez: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 1 HR
