Sporcle Saturday: Hall of Famers

The Rucker Archive/Icon Sportswire

Good morning!

Last week on Sporcle Saturday, I wanted to highlight the great career of Dick Allen, and acknowledge just what an offensive superpower he was for the White Sox. This week, I want to follow that up by celebrating the newest members inducted into the Hall of Fame with White Sox ties.

After a relatively fallow period in the early-aughts, since 2008 the White Sox have seen 10 players get into the Hall of Fame with some tie to the franchise. Heck, the team had a four-year streak from 2016 to 2019 where a player was inducted. At any rate, today's Sporcle tasks you with naming every player in the Hall of Fame to have worn the White Sox uniform at some point in their career. That's 34 names: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

    • This list only includes guys who played for the team, though there are a couple of guys on this list who went into the Hall of Fame as something other than a player.
    • For hints, I've provided the tenure of the player in question, and the year they were inducted.
    • I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

    • Four guys not on this list but in the Hall of Fame: Tony LaRussa (manager, you may have heard of him), Al Lopez (manager), Bob Lemon (in as a player, never played for the Sox, managed them), and Hugh Duffy (in as a player, never played for the Sox, did manage them).
    • 16 of these players were inducted via the BBWAA while 14 were through the Veterans Committee. The other 4 were through the Old Timers Committee.
