It turns out the Dominican Summer League can score upon Norge Vera, albeit with help.
Vera allowed his first run against the DSL Reds on Friday. It scored via an inning-opening error in the third, a stolen base and a single. Vera's 0.00 ERA remains intact, though, and he's up to 21 strikeouts against four hits and three walks over 11⅔ innings.
Francys Romero posted some footage of Vera's last start, along with an open-ended question that was answered with "for tax purposes!" by numerous people. FanGraphs' Kevin Goldstein added that most players demand it during negotiations. Perhaps it's more noticeable with the White Sox because their highest-profile signings are older.
