When the Kannapolis minor league franchise unveiled its new name back on Oct. 23, 2019, nobody expected that the first win of the Cannon Ballers era would have to wait until May 15, 2021.

Granted, the former Intimidators were not responsible for most of that dormant stretch, but they didn't help matters by starting the season 0-10, including a no-hitter on Friday.

The Cannon Ballers are no longer 0-for-their-history. They're now 1-for-their-history, as three Cannon Baller pitchers made a first-inning run hold up. Kannapolis' front office couldn't find the words.
