It was on this day, way back in 1984, that Carlton Fisk hit for the cycle, becoming --at the time-- just the third player in franchise history to accomplish the feat. Alas, his heroic efforts weren't enough as sloppy defensive play led to an eventual 7-6 loss to the Kansas City Royals. A couple of other notes from this game:

    • Dave Stegman also had a nice game, with two home runs off Royals starter Larry Gura.
    • This was Willie WIlson's first game back for the Royals, after serving a prison sentence and three-month suspension from baseball stemming from misdemeanor drug charges.

Anyway, today on Sporcle Saturday, we'll be looking at who else has hit for the cycle. For a change, though, this quiz won't be Sox-centric: just 6 White Sox players have hit for the cycle which obviously isn't enough to make for a challenge. No, today's quiz will task you with naming all the MLB players (two White Sox included!) who have done so from 2000 to the present. That's 84 names, how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

    • I've allotted the full 20 minutes for completion attempts.
    • For hints, I've provided the team, position of the player for that game, and date of the game.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

    • The White Sox are 4-2 when a player hits for the cycle. Coincidentally, both losses have come against the Royals.
    • Since 2000, teams are 72-12 when a player hits for the cycle.
    • 2014 is the only year where just one player in MLB hit for the cycle.
    • The other White Sox --besides Fisk-- to hit for the cycle before 2000? Chris Singleton (1999), Jack Brohamer (1977), and Ray Schalk (1922).
