Wednesday afternoon's barn burner of a game against the Astros saw some lead changes, some big ol' dingers and two extra base hits by Eloy Jimenez. The double and home run that Jimenez hit were important, both in the context of the game and also kept a streak alive: this is the fourth consecutive season in which the Sox have had a rookie hitter knock in at least thirty extra base hits.
Barring injury or disaster --something I'm unwilling to count out, given the fortunes of this franchise, of late-- Eloy should easily reach the 40 XBH plateau before season's end. Today, Saturday Sporcle will celebrate the rookie left fielder's accomplishment: in franchise history, what other rookies have logged at least 30 extra base hits in a season?
