With Nick Madrigal's promotion to Charlotte a couple of days ago, the Sox are on the cusp of having their first bona fide low-strikeout hitter in a few years. Bret Sayre of Baseball Prospectus had an interesting tweet on Wednesday:
...Which got me thinking: who among Sox hitters have had low K totals (75 or fewer) over the course of a season? As it turns out, there are quite a few! I thought the results might skew heavily towards guys from the early 20th century, but in all there are 405 player seasons, with 78 of them coming since 1980. So that, ladies and gentlemen, brings us to today's Sporcle: since 1980, which Sox batters have struck out 75 times or fewer? How many can you name? Good luck!

- Three players (four instances) hit 0 home runs in a season; the fewest strikeouts among those instances was 33.
- The record for fewest strikeouts in franchise history belongs to Eddie Collins with 8, logged in both the 1923 and 1925 seasons.
- In the modern era of baseball (1901+), Joe Sewell seems to hold the record with just three Ks across 503 PAs. (He also logged three seasons with 4 Ks apiece)
