Sporcle Saturday: Rookie wins

Dylan Cease (Laura Wolff / Charlotte Knights)

On Wednesday afternoon, Dylan Cease made his anticipated debut for the White Sox, going five innings and coming away with the eventual decision in a 7-5 win over the Tigers.

That game marked the first time a Sox starting pitcher recorded a win since 2014, and is actually just the third in this century. In fact, Sox rookie pitchers have recorded a win in their first start just 23 times in franchise history. For today's Sporcle, that's what you'll be tasked with guessing: aside from the gimme in Cease, who are the other 22 pitchers who've accomplished this feat? How many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

    • I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
    • For hints, I've provided the date of the game, and the opponent.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

    • Two of these pitchers recorded complete game shutouts, though both were early in the 20th century: 1909, and 1928, and both were 1-0 scores.
    • The most runs the Sox scored in these games was 13, a 13-8 decision over the St. Louis Browns in 1932.
    • Cease is not the only Sox pitcher to plunk a batter in his debut. He has 8 other pitchers to accompany him in that category.
