More than 500 players were declared minor-league free agents last Friday. Baseball America has the complete list, and the White Sox contingent includes:
Chicago White Sox (18)
RHP: Brandon Brennan (AAA), Gregory Infante (AAA), Yelmison Peralta (Hi A), Ricardo Pinto (AAA), Asher Wojciechowski (AAA)
LHP: Matt Tomshaw (AA), Tyler Watson (AAA)
C: Dustin Garneau (AAA)
1B: Keon Barnum (AA), Matt Skole (AAA)
2B: Jake Elmore (AAA), Bryant Flete (AAA), Gerson Montilla (AA)
3B: Patrick Leonard (AAA)
OF: Zac Kapstein (R), Ryan LaMarre (AAA), Tito Polo (AA), Trayce Thompson (AAA)
While guys like Infante and Barnum have more name recognition, Polo registers as the biggest surprise, because unless Ian Clarkin's late-season surge in relief work sticks, the Tommy Kahnle trade is down to Blake Rutherford. That said, he spent most of his White Sox career injured and wasn't particularly productive when available, and he's not going to gum up the works as the Winston-Salem outfield logjam moves to Birmingham.
