Sporcle Saturday: 20+ dingers in a season since 2000

As I noted in the Useless Information section in last week's Sporcle, 2018 marked the first time in several years (2012, to be exact), the White Sox had more than three players with at least 20 home runs to their name. In fact, had Avi and Yoan Moncada managed just a few more dingers, it would have been the first time in a decade the team would have had six players with at least 20 home runs. Alas, we're left to dream on next season.

Today, though, we'll be celebrating the 20-dinger hallmark. Since 2000, there have been 72 instances where a White Sox player knocked out at least 20 home runs in a season. How many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

    • I've allotted ten minutes for completion attempts.
    • For hints, I've provided the number of home runs and the season in which it took place.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

    • 6 players in a season is the high-water mark for the Sox: in addition to 2008, the 2004 team also had six players hit at least 20 home runs (and nearly seven, as Frank Thomas was just two away).
    • The first player to ever hit 20 home runs in a season for the White Sox was Carl Reynolds with 22, back in 1930.
    • The Sox actually have just 149 instances where a player has logged 20 home runs in a season, meaning that one of these days I'll do an all-time 20+ HR Sporcle. Contrast that with a team like the Yankees, who have 251 instances.
    • There have been 7 teams to have 7 players hit at least 20 home runs in a season. The most recent iteration is...this year's Dodgers!
