Chase Meidroth celebrates after hitting a three-run homer

Good morning, and Happy Halloween! If you live in an area that facilitates kids and costumes, may you have a productive evening handing out candy. (Or receiving it; your tax for pulling the wagon and/or carrying bags filled with bottles of water is that all but one of your favorite candy goes to you)

At any rate, Chase Meidroth is a 4.5 bWAR second baseman while also a Gold Glove finalist. I've been wanting to do a Sporcle to highlight Meidroth's accomplishments for a bit, but his numbers don't really make for a quiz, in a good way/serving as an indictment to the lack of production at the position.

His 2026 season puts him in rare company in a number of categories, and the cutoffs that match his production don't lead to a whole heck of a lot. To wit: using just Baseball Reference WAR and setting the cut-off to 3 severely limited the number of entries. Thus: today's quiz asks you to name all White Sox second basemen throughout franchise history who have logged at least 2+ bWAR in a season while playing second base at least 70% of the time. That's 52 entries: how many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I've provided the season and the bWAR.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/confound your friends and family:

  • The average triple-slash of the players on this list is .291/.367/.397.
  • Just one player on this list hit 20 home runs.
  • The highest ops+ is 165 coming in the 1915, 9.1 WAR season.
