Kyle Teel was officially placed on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain on Tuesday, and Edgar Quero was officially recalled.
As a friendly reminder, the 10-day and 60-day injured lists are procedural designations for roster management, not estimates for recovery time, as Teel's extended rehabilitation timeline indicates in particularly brutal fashion.
Will Venable said the broad range for Teel's absence is 6 to 12 weeks.

That's a low-end estimate that would still keep Teel out of action into September, and a high-end estimate that potentially ends his laborious 2026 season with a little under two weeks before the MLB trade deadline. To the degree that catching performance can be effectively measured by statistics, the White Sox were arguably getting the worst production in the sport prior to Teel's season debut, and his ability to help right the ship will be limited from here on out.

In the mean time, Drew Romo is starting on Tuesday night, and the playing time split between him and Quero is likely to be easily swayed by whoever can find any traction. Romo's double on Monday night was his first extra-base hit since June 3, and Quero slugged .295 with the Knights. Without anyone distinguishing themselves offensively, Romo's a scratch pitch-framer, and that will likely give him the majority of starts until the Sox catching depth chart changes significantly.
Don't cry because Colson Montgomery got scratched from the lineup barely 15 minutes after it was initially posted, smile because he felt good enough after his right shin contusion Monday night to be in the lineup in the first place.
The White Sox are averaging an American League-best 4.84 runs per game. Think of all the times you've been frustrated with this offense, maybe while looking at this injury-depleted lineup tonight--every other AL team is worse. That said, a whopping six National League teams are better.
Sox pitching has a 1.91 ERA over their last nine games.
