White Sox Minor Keys: June 10, 2026

If this were a Mock Draft Roundup, I'd lead this post with Keith Law projecting Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey to the White Sox in his second stab at figuring out the first round.

But this the Minor Keys, so shut up about that and instead shift your focus to one of his answers in the Q&A post he hosted after his mock draft was published.

Liz R.: Very interesting to think about what the Chisox might do. An org in transition in many ways. I wonder how much confidence they have in their improved ability to develop players?

Keith Law: A lot. And they should. Colson Montgomery was a washout, striking out nearly 50% of the time in AAA, then they rebuilt his whole swing and approach and made him a viable regular. Jacob Gonzalez was a complete bust with 2+ years of poor performance; he changed his body, stance, and setup, and I think he's going to be an All-Star. They are doing real stuff with real results.

Also, following up on Tuesday's organizational movement, the White Sox made a couple of more promotions on Wednesday:

*Nick McLain is joining Kannapolis after completing his rehab stint with the ACL White Sox.

*James Taussig is moving up to Winston-Salem from Kannapolis.

Taussig, an undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas at San Antonio, hit .252/.370/.539 over 36 games with the Cannon Ballers while splitting his time between the outfield corners and DH. At 23, he's old for the level, but at 6'6" and 230 pounds, he's also huge. Why doesn't he simply eat the other prospects?
