Good morning!
Entering Friday evening's matchup against the Tigers, Munetaka Murakami sits atop the American League leaderboard in both runs (42) and home runs (20). That ties the 2024 White Sox leader in home runs (Andrew Benintendi) and sits just two behind the 2025 leader, Lenyn Sosa. Should Murakami maintain even a semblance of his current pace, he should easily set the White Sox record for home runs in a season by a rookie, 36. Not too shabby!
Today's quiz will examine other White Sox rookies who hit even half of what Murakami has already hit: 10. In all there are 40 players on this list: how many can you name? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
- For hints, I've provided the year, number of home runs, and position of the player in question.
- There are a few players on this list that technically don't meet MLB's definition of rookie eligibility, but whom I decided to include anyway. They were close enough to qualify in both my heart and my mind.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- The average triple-slash of the players on this list: .270/.328/.458
- Three players on this list ultimately won Rookie of the Year.
