Baseball America ranked every prospect traded by Thursday's deadline, which was a more exciting exercise than last year, when zero top-100 prospects were dealt. This time around, two consensus top-100 types were dealt -- No. 5 overall prospect Leo De Vries (going from San Diego to Sacramento in the Mason Miller trade) and No. 50 prospect Eduardo Tait (from Philadelphia to Minnesota in the Jhoan Duran swap). Four prospects from just outside the top 100 were also traded -- Mick Abel, Khal Stephen, Boston Bateman and Braden Nett -- so the buyers were a little more generous with young talent than the last time around.
To find the players the White Sox acquired -- Curtis Mead excluded, because he's not eligible for such lists -- you have to scroll down to the Top 500-1000 Prospects area, where you'll see Gage Ziehl, Ben Peoples and Duncan Davitt. Out of the 89 prospects traded, they ranked 40th, 53rd and 56th, with BA grades of 45, 40 and 40, respectively.
