Good morning!

With Dick Allen inducted into the Hall of Fame this past Sunday, a beloved member of the early-70s White Sox finally got his due. That makes 35 players with ties to the White Sox, and a few more who are possibilities:

  • Andruw Jones - 66.2% of the ballot after 8 years on;
  • Jimmy Rollins - 18% after 4;
  • Omar Vizquel - 17.8% after 8;
  • Mark Buehrle - 11.4% after 5.

Jones looks like the strongest candidate to make the bump over the next two years while the rest are uncertain or not at all likely: Rollins and Buehrle could gain votes as the electorate shifts younger while the less said about Vizquel, the better.

Today’s Sporcle tasks you with naming every player in the Hall of Fame to have worn the White Sox uniform at some point in their career. As mentioned above, that’s 35 names: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • This list only includes guys who played for the team, though there are a couple of guys on this list who went into the Hall of Fame as something other than a player.
  • For hints, I’ve provided the tenure of the player in question, and the year they were inducted.
  • I’ve allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • Four guys not on this list but in the Hall of Fame: Tony LaRussa (manager), Al Lopez (manager), Bob Lemon (in as a player, never played for the Sox, managed them), and Hugh Duffy (in as a player, never played for the Sox, did manage them).
  • 16 of these players were inducted via the BBWAA while 15 were through the Veterans Committee. The other 4 were through the Old Timers Committee.
