Pregame notes: Picture day

James Fegan/Sox Machine

The White Sox took their team photo on Tuesday afternoon.

Which face will you be most shocked to see was in the Sox clubhouse when you glance at this picture three years from now? Don't overlook Owen White and Elvis Peguero on the injured list. Maybe Curtis Mead will play 10 seasons here, but all with long hair that make his current shaved head look unrecognizable. The passage of times makes strangers of us all.

Korey Lee took grounders at first base for a bit on Tuesday.

The White Sox also flipped Kyle Teel and Colson Montgomery from their initial lineup announcement.

These are two things that happened, even if I'm not sure what either of them mean as of yet.

Chase Meidroth is the latest regular to get a day off during the 17 games, 17 days stretch the White Sox are currently toiling through.

"We want to use our entire roster," Will Venable said. "There are good matchups throughout the roster for us on a given day. We’re going to see a couple of days off here that are scheduled and then as we get through this 17-day stretch, we’ll find a group of guys we want in there, so it changes day to day."

Venable described the handling for Martín Pérez as "somewhat cautious" for his third appearance since coming off the injured list, but even that shouldn't hold him back from going six or seven innings, depending on effectiveness.

"He just looks like he picked up right where he left off," Venable said. "Obviously a major injury and rehab assignment, an entire summer between his outings and he looks exactly like he did before. A really good feel for his pitches, the command of that sinker in to righties, the way he was nailing that earlier in the year, it’s the same thing now. Great seeing Martín being Martín."

Michael A. Taylor is the White Sox nominee/club winner for the Heart & Hustle Award, which is in line with everyone in the clubhouse really liking and respecting Michael A. Taylor.

⚙️⚙️⚙️

Edgar Quero is not in the lineup Tuesday night but surely everyone wants to know that his five catcher pickoffs tie him with Bill Nahorodny for the highest single-season mark in franchise history.
