Good morning!
Colson Montgomery had a tidy 5 RBI night on Wednesday, leading the Sox to a surprising series win and capping off a nice 5-1 road trip. Entering Friday's game against the Cubs, Montgomery has thus far been worth 1 bWAR, while slashing .275/.351/.471 and knocking in 12 RBI, all over 16 games. Suffice to say, it's nice to see a Sox prospect come up and produce rather than struggle!
Those 5 RBI in one game, though: not many White Sox rookies have accomplished that over the course of the franchise's history. Here's where we get to the caveat in the post title above: Baseball Reference's Stathead tool doesn't have a way to check for rookie eligibility at the game level, just the season level, and MLB's rookie rules are wonky enough that it makes it difficult to check on a name-by-name basis.
Thus, today's Sporcle looks at White Sox batters who had a 5+ RBI game over the course of their first 140 career games. While not perfect, I felt that 140 games was a good compromise which would accurately reflect the player's early portion of their career. In all, there are 47 entries: how many can you name? Good luck!
