Baseball America revised its top 30 lists for all 30 teams recently, and while I'm skeptical about the general value of reconsidering rankings for an entire organization on two months of data, I do like looking at them in terms of which prospects have graduated, and which ones should in short order.
For instance, Sean Burke, Chase Meidroth, Shane Smith and Brooks Baldwin are no longer eligible for the White Sox's list, and it'd take some bad news for Kyle Teel (No. 2), Edgar Quero (5), Grant Taylor (7) and Mike Vasil (12) to remain ranked at the end of the year. Assuming they will no longer qualify by the time of the next re-ranking, here's how the current list would look:
- Noah Schultz
- Hagen Smith
- Braden Montgomery
- Caleb Bonemer
- Colson Montgomery
- Drew Thorpe
- Jairo Iriarte
- Peyton Pallette
- Wikelman González
- Ky Bush
That's a pretty good top four, especially since Bonemer is generating top-100 heat with his performance at Kannapolis. The remainder of the list makes it rather apparent what kind of talent needs to prove itself in a hurry. Keep it up, George Wolkow -- you'll be needed.
