White Sox Minor Keys: April 4, 2025

Birmingham Barons celebrate
Jim Margalus / Sox Machine

With the three other White Sox full-season affiliates joining the Charlotte Knights in getting their seasons underway, Minor Keys season can officially begin.

For those new to Sox Machine, the White Sox Minor Keys are a daily recap of the previous night's action on the farm. There's usually a lead item covering some notable minor league news or development, followed by the scores, performances and highlights from prospects of note, with the occasional performances of note from non-prospects.

Because the White Sox farm system comprises some 165 players, I have to draw the line somewhere, but if your pet prospect isn't a part of the daily write-ups, by all means, state your case and share the news and highlights in the comments, because guys will invariably play their way in and out of the recaps over the course of the season.

Meanwhile, stay tuned for the Birmingham preview later today. What it lacks in expedience due to the late roster reveal, it will make up for with a little addition detail about early season usage.

Charlotte 7, Norfolk 6

  • Mike Tauchman was 0-for-1 with three walks.
  • Edgar Quero singled thrice and struck out twice.
  • Kyle Teel went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts.
  • Tim Elko singled twice, walked and struck out.
  • Colson Montgomery had a normal line: 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • Nick Nastrini: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 1 HBP, 41 of 75 pitches for strikes.

Birmingham 6, Knoxville 4

  • William Bergolla went 1-for-2 with a sac bunt and a bases-loaded walk.
  • Jacob Gonzalez was 1-for-4, but the "1" was a bases-loaded triple that put the Barons ahead.
  • DJ Gladney went 0-for-2 with a walk, sac fly and stolen base.
  • Wilfred Veras was 2-for-4 with a K at the plate, and 1-for-2 on the basepaths.
  • Mario Camilletti had a perfect 4-for-4 night with a triple, although one of the singles probably should've been an E3.
  • Noah Schultz: 4 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 WP, 1 HBP, 48 of 75 pitches for strikes.
  • Peyton Pallette: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, eight of 10 pitches for strikes.

Highlights:

*This was my fifth time seeing Noah Schultz pitch, and the first time he's come close to getting knocked out of the game. I'll have more about it after doing some interviews this weekend.

*It was a perfect 81-degree night, and an announced crowd of 5,346 was the loudest I've heard at Regions Field.

Go-ahead bases-clearing triple for Jacob Gonzalez for the most locked-in Birmingham crowd I've seen.
