Bryan Ramos went all of spring training -- 28 plate appearances stretched out over 13 games -- without appearing in the field due to an elbow issue, after which he hung back at extended spring training while opening the season in the injured list with a right elbow strain.
Unlike so many other White Sox prospects, this elbow injury hasn't yet portended doom. He was activated in Charlotte, and he played third base without consequence in his regular-season debut, reaching base on a walk and hit by pitch during an 0-for-2 night. With Miguel Vargas once again scuffling -- and James will have a post about him later today -- the White Sox could use an internal challenger at third base.
Also joining him from the infirmary was Brandon Drury, who occupied the DH role as he works his way back from a broken left thumb. He went 2-for-4 with a walk, and he resumes hitting the way he was in Arizona, the White Sox will find some way to accommodate him at the major league level.
