It had been more than a month since Jairo Iriarte posted an outing to be excited about, but the All-Star break might've done him some good.
Or maybe he was just facing the Chattanooga Lookouts.
The Barons threw a combined seven-inning no-hitter led by Iriarte, who handled the first five innings, allowing just a walk while striking out six. Garrett Schoenle, who started Charlotte's combined nine-inning no-hitter, threw the final two innings before the Barons walked it off on a walk.
But then Game 2 came around, the Noah Schultz threw four no-hit innings himself, extending the streak to 11 innings before the Lookouts finally notched their first hit of the day off Dalton Roach in the fifth. The Barons ended up winning 3-1 to sweep the doubleheader, and they're now 14-3 against the Lookouts this season.
They're not the only team giving Chattanooga a hard time. Look at the Southern League overall standings:
- Tennessee, 51-36
- Pensacola, 49-39
- Birmingham, 49-40
- Montgomery, 48-41
- Biloxi, 44-43
- Rocket City, 44-43
- Mississippi, 42-46
- Chattanooga, 25-64
The .281 winning percentage is the worst among any full-season affiliate, and it's not even close.
