It was explained to me how this experience is valuable for Sosa no matter what, and I guess I understand that. But I am still not okay with him sitting on the bench this weekend and then getting sent back to Charlotte while Leury Garcia continues to get at bats.
At bats? Don’t forget gold glove Garcia at 2nd. Dropped the throw down to 2nd, bobbled a grounder where they could have had Mullins out at 3rd. Leury is the gift that always gives. It’s only inning 1
La Russa is a complete tool. Nothing he does is ever for the betterment of the team, fans, or future of any players. Just a complete waste to even bother to call up Sosa. Garcia is in 2022 is close to the worst player they have ever started with any regularity. WAR of almost negative 1. I mean Jesus Christ.
TLR is pure, stupid evil. There no logic as to why Sosa is not starting today. As I said in another post, fuck La Russa.
There is no value to Sosa getting called up and sitting on the bench in favor of a guy with a -1 WAR, I’m sorry. Start the Fire Tony chants, every inning of every home game. Make it a promo night.
Benetti just said TLR said Leury gave him good at bats yesterday so he wanted him back out there. We have a regular hitting .192/.207/.257 in almost July. Good at bats!!!
I’m honestly convinced he is self destructive, and not making honest mistakes. Literally nobody could be as stupid as he has been, as many times as he has. It is sabotage and self hatred/self pity, not incompetency.
I disagree. I think it’s complete arrogance, conceit and pomposity. You throw a hot Haseley at him, he sits. Throw a hot Sosa at him, he sits. He’s so busy walking around showing everyone the size of his dick, he’s completely lost touch with the game.
He also said Sosa might get 3 hits Saturday and not be in the lineup Sunday. I really wish I could see the alternate path of this team where anybody but TLR replaced Renteria.
Four stolen bases allowed in the first two innings, eh? You know who had eight separate seasons in which he pitched at least 200 innings and gave up a total of four or fewer stolen bases?
Mark Buehrle, that’s who.
I didn’t include his final season where he pitched 198.2 innings and gave up 0 stolen bases.
More than a bit crazy. Kopech has been excellent this year. He’s far from a finished product. A young pitcher will have some ups and downs along the way. He’s shown plenty to suggest front of line starter. Could develop to true ace, maybe he won’t. But one start does not tell this story.
Two of Kopech’s starts included 13 scoreless giving up 2 hits against the Dodgers and Yankees. And 11 straight scoreless innings giving up 2 hits vs the Yankees spanning two starts. As pessimistic as I am, he is one of the only reasons this team has any hope for the future at all.
I think suffice it to say tonight’s start does not invalidate his other dominant performances against the best teams in both leagues.
See, I would have pinch hit to try to take advantage of the lefty being stuck until 3 batters or the inning was over. With Burger on deck, the Orioles would have had to leave the lefty in the game to face him. However, I am not a hall of fame baseball person.
That’s true. The draft is coming up, and my 40th birthday isn’t until September, so there’s still time to unlock my two years of little league experience. I also shared an Honors Geometry class with Curtis Granderson in high school, so you know, osmosis.

Something I was thinking about today is how this team really has had all the problems I was worried about with last year’s team: A lack of depth, fielding issues, and a manager constantly outsmarting himself.
Trade players, put kids to play. Get some prospects, and plan better next year. This team is not gonna do anything this year. Just copy what the Twins did last year. Keep Vaughn, Ceae, Kopech and Robert. Trade anybody else. Let’s go.

Burger may or may not start hitting. So, at least until Moncada returns, two spots could be open

Orioles broadcast thinks Kopech HBP was intentional… I didn’t see it live, any truth to that?
There’s no way. It was a bad hitter, Kopech was up 1-2, and he had already shown he was wild tonight (first run scored on a wild pitch).
yeah when they said it was 1-2 i really doubted it. why’d the benches clear, near the head?
In short: Odor’s a prick.
Sometimes God has a plan. It’s clear TLR has a plan too. Ruin everything.

It’s like self flagellation though….just painful.
Tony keeps letting the game find Leury Garcia

that balk call is just absurdly bad. there’s nothing at all there!
Never seen that in my life. At best he breathed. Like wtf? No other movement
the ump gave the orioles a free run for absolutely no goddamn reason at all
Now now, lets’ not jump to conclusions. He may have had a reason and we just don’t know what it was.
This team is so unfocused. Tim looked to third there on the grounder. There were already two outs.
Indeed. A part of me wishes he would have tried to cut down the runner at 3rd. Only to embarrass these guys heads out of their rears
4 innings with no strikeouts against the Orioles tells me Kopech is not the guy Sox fans think he is.
The guy is clearly not healthy, the right knee isn’t right. Hush.
Gfy.

And see? Now 2 k’s in 5 ip. Getting better by the minute

It not a coincidence that Baltimore has used exclusively RHP so far and so far the Sox have looked like ass
This game is so boring. I can’t stand TLR anymore. He robs all the fun this team can bring. I think he is worse than the injuries we have had.
Like lollapalooza this team is overhyped, is less interesting as time goes on, and only casual fans remain excited by it.
One guy is asked to sprint on this team and they act like they are 77 years old. How can such athletic young men be so unhealthy
Letting Sheets hit against the lefty huh?
See, I would have pinch hit to try to take advantage of the lefty being stuck until 3 batters or the inning was over. With Burger on deck, the Orioles would have had to leave the lefty in the game to face him. However, I am not a hall of fame baseball person.
You’re not a hall-of-fame baseball person yet.

TLR is just unbelievably bad. No strategy. Just a whole lot of joyless baseball.
Call me a cockeyed optimist but I have a feeling we’re going to get another hit in either the 8th or 9th inning.
Whoa, whoa, settle down.
Son of a bitch. The one time in my life I’m optimistic and look what happens. That’ll learn me.
You are a cockeyed optimist
Just like Billy Mumphrey.

Yawned….9th inning already?

And yes… give a team that’s not gonna win to TLR. Maybe he will resign because of it.
And so it goes, Sox get 1 hit by 5 pitchers on one of the worst teams in the AL. Hilarious.
